With a simple push or pull of the thumb, users can shift between a super-wide flood beam and spot mode with transition halo at varying distances and brightness. While in flood mode, the light casts a huge circle of light that is equally bright across without any dark spots. Then slide it into spot mode, and the light will reach far down-range with a transition halo that allows for a large viewing area surrounding the tight spot beam. Beam Lock System locks the beam in place: twist left to lock, twist right to release. Anti-roll tailcap steadies light when set on uneven surfaces and allows light to be stood up on its cap for vertical lighting situations.

Making both up-close and down-range illumination highly effective in one flashlight, the Pure Beam Focusing Optic combines Coast's largest Ultra View Flood Beam with the Bulls-Eye Spot Beam. While using the Ultra View Flood Beam, there is a consistent circle of light up to 11.5' (3.5m) in diameter at 6' (1.8m) in distance. While on the Bulls-Eye Spot Beam, you can illuminate up to 767' (234m) down-range with a transition halo around the spot to increase the effective viewing area.
