The rod's blank is made of IM6 graphite, reinforced with premium resins, and features a multilayer, multidirectional construction for greater structural strength. Rugged gunsmoke stainless steel guide frames with stainless steel inserts add to the rod's long-lasting durability. Lew's exclusive custom skeletal graphite reel seat with cushioned stainless steel hoods offers great hand-to-reel stability and comfort. Using a split-grip design, the American Hero rod delivers the same rod control as a full-grip handle with less weight. Plus, the exposed blank offers instant vibration transmission to help you feel every bite and nibble. Premium high-density EVA split-grips are durable and lightweight. Patented "No Foul" stainless steel hook keeper.

It features a lightweight, graphite composite frame, making it incredibly strong without weighing you down. An anodized aluminum bowed handle with Lew's custom paddle knobs makes for a comfortable day on the water. The externally-adjustable Magnetic Control System (MCS) provides accurate casts. On the retrieve, the premium 5-bearing drive system with stainless steel double-shielded ball bearings and a Zero-Reverse anti-reverse bearing ensures a smooth performance every time. The durable Rulon drag system also offers up to 10 pounds of drag power. Other features include a machine-forged, double-anodized aluminum spool, zirconia line guide, and high-strength solid brass main gear and crank shaft. Rods 6'6" and 7' have a gear ratio of 6.4:1. 6'10" has a gear ratio of 7.1:1.
